*commissionerate Police Ludhiana Conducts Caso Under Yudh Nashian Virudh Campaign*

As part of the *Yudh Nashian Virudh* campaign launched by the Government of Punjab, a *Cordon and Search Operation (CASO)* was conducted across the entire *Commissionerate Ludhiana* on *17 January 2026*. This state-wide operation was aimed at curbing the sale of drugs, dismantling supply chains, and arresting criminals involved in drug trafficking.
The operation was efficiently planned and professionally executed, focusing on *16 drug hotspots* identified within the Commissionerate area. Approximately *500 police personnel* were deployed for the operation. The exercise was closely supervised by *Special DGP, GRP, Punjab, Ms. Shashi Prabha Dwivedi, IPS*, who personally visited three locations to assess and ensure the effectiveness of the operation.
*Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, Mr. Swapan Sharma, IPS*, informed that the operation involved the active participation of *2 DCPs, 8 ADCPs, 16 ACPs*, and all *SHOs of the Commissionerate*. The CASO was conducted between *11:00 AM and 2:00 PM*, with the primary objective of breaking drug supply networks and apprehending offenders.
During the operation, police apprehended multiple *accused* and seized significant quantities of contraband. A total of *34 FIRs* have been registered, leading to the arrest of *35 accused* and recovery of *392 Grams of Heroin, 775 Tablets, 600 Gm Ganja and 6 Boxes of Liqour*. The police further rounded up around 40 persons for verification.
The Commissioner of Police further stated that such operations are part of an ongoing and sustained drive against drugs, being carried out strictly in accordance with the directions of *Hon’ble Chief Minister Punjab, S. Bhagwant Singh Mann*, and *DGP Punjab, Mr. Gaurav Yadav, IPS*. He reaffirmed that these efforts will continue with full vigour to eliminate the menace of drugs from the State.
