Both Accused Arrested** SAS Nagar, May 28: Reaffirming its commitment to the zero-tolerance policy against corruption as directed by the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab Government, the SAS Nagar Police have booked a Senior Constable and his accomplice under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Sharing the details, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Harmandeep Singh Hans informed that FIR No. 57 dated 28/05/2025 under Sections 7 and 7A of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against Senior Constable Kuldeep Singh, presently posted at Kharar City Police Station, and his accomplice Sangeeta Baweja, a resident of Nayagaon. The case stems from a bribery incident that occurred in July 2024. At that time, a complainant, ASI Harish had reported a fraud involving Rs 6,70,000, wherein his servant, Joseph Alexander, had allegedly stolen his SIM card linked to a bank account and misappropriated the funds. Based on this complaint, FIR No. 58/2024 was registered at Police Station Nayagaon against the servant. Prior to the registration of the FIR, Kuldeep Singh, then posted as MHC at PS Nayagaon, demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 20,000 from ASI Harish—Rs 10,000 in cash and Rs 10,000 via Google Pay. The online transaction was made to the account of his accomplice, Sangeeta Baweja, on Kuldeep Singh’s instructions, in exchange for facilitating the case settlement. Both accused have been arrested in connection with the case, SSP Hans confirmed.
