Kapurthala Police got a big success when they arrested the heinous criminals accused of double kidnapping and murder and solved a sensational heinous case after thorough investigation and raids in several states. Mr. Gaurav Tura IPS SSP Kapurthala said that on April 24, Police Station Sadar Phagwara received information from a person named Sudesh Kumar that his son Sanjeev Kumar and his friend Anju Pal who is the AGI of Phagwara. were living in the flats, who are missing. On which the team of Police Station Sadar Phagwara reached the spot, where a girl named Palakdeep was found in the flats, who told that on the intervening night of April 19/20, three unknown persons had kidnapped her mother Anju Pal and Sanjeev Kumar. Keeping in view the sensitivity of the information, Case No. 43 dated 24th April, 2017, Pages 138,140,336 (2), 61(2) Ghee. Jam, 25, 27 Bhamala Pheri Ghanta Mart Phagwara meeting was recorded and on this occasion Prabhjot Singh Virk SPD Kapurthala and Rupinder Kaur Bhatti SP Phagwara were immediately formed special teams which included Bharat Bhushan DSP Phagwara, Parminder Singh DSP. Detective Kapurthala, Inspector Jarnail Singh Incharge CIA Kapurthala, Sub Inspector Bisman Singh Incharge CIA Phagwara and police team of Thana Sadar Phagwara were involved. The teams inspected the spot. A detailed investigation was conducted through technical and human intelligence. CCTV footage was searched. Within 24 hours of receiving the information, Kapurthala Police managed to identify the mastermind of the case, who was identified as Harvinder Singh alias Pinder, who had recently come on parole and was now absconding. During the investigation, it was revealed that Kuldeep alias Billa, Balraj Kaur and Rupinder alias Pindra had provided logistical support to the accused and for this they were also arrested from Ludhiana on April 27. Conducting a detailed investigation, Kapurthala Police surrounded the location of Harvinder Singh alias Binder in the Kutch region of Gujarat and working in close coordination with the Gujarat Police, Kapurthala Police succeeded in arresting the main accused Harvinder Singh alias Binder from the Kutch region of Gujarat on April 28, i.e. within 72 hours of receiving the information, the accused was brought from Gujarat to Phagwara on transit remand and the accused was arrested on May 1. Presented in the court of the District Magistrate, Phagwara, where the Hon’ble Court sent the accused to 08 days police custody. During the police remand, the accused was thoroughly interrogated and all technical and human aspects were worked out, during which the accused Harvinder Singh alias Binder revealed that he got married to Anju Pal in 2019, after which he used to visit her whenever he came out on parole. Recently, Anju stopped sending him messages and did not support him in his legal fight for bail/parole in several cases filed against him. On the midnight of 19/20 April, 2025, Harvinder Singh entered the flat of Anju Pal with his co-accused Manjot Singh alias Fruti resident of Ludhiana and another accused and tied the hands of both the victims and AGI. Gardens abducted them at gunpoint from a flat in Phagwara and took them to a field in Ludhiana, where he strangled both the victims to death with the help of his co-accused. But when asked about the bodies, the accused fabricated a false story of dumping the bodies in the Rajasthan feeder canal and did not cooperate in the recovery of the bodies and continued to evade the case. Another accused Jashanpreet Singh alias Jassu, a resident of Ludhiana, was also arrested on May 2. Jashanpreet also played a key role in providing logistical support to the accused and also destroyed the car in which the accused had abducted the couple.
