SDM Derabassi Issues show cause Notice to the factory --

The sale and use of Methanol and Industrial Spirit are to be monitored strictly--

Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, April 17, 2024:--

Committee to check the sale and use of Methanol and Industrial Spirit, constituted by DC Aashika Jain, found discrepancies in the use of Methanol in a Derabassi factory on Tuesday, said, SDM Derabassi, Himanshu Gupta.

Divulging the details, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Derabassi, Himanshu Gupta said that the Sub Division Level Committee comprised of himself, Shruti Sharma, Block Level Extension Officer (Industries), Gurvinder Singh Excise Inspector and Satnam Singh, Assistant Sub Inspector, InCharge, Mubarkpur Police Chowki, paid joint visit to four industrial units where Methanol has been used as raw material.

The factories that were checked upon included, M/s Power Chem Tech, Industrial Focal Point, Derabassi, M/s Alley Chem Labs Pvt Limited, IFP, Derabassi, M/s Surbhe Polymers, IFP, Derabassi and M/s Synthimed Labs Pvt. Limited, IFP, Derabassi.

Out of these units, Surbhe Polymers and Synthimed Labs have proper record keeping of the Methanol use as raw material and active ingredient, respectively besides the quantity of storage found as per the record. Alley Chem Laabs said that though the unit has the license for storage of Methanol currently, the unit is neither buying nor using Methanol in any form.

The fourth unit Power Chem Tech produces Formaldehyde by using Methanol as raw material but failed to show the stock register and bills of Methanol which mounts to gross negligence, said the SDM Gupta. The management has been served with a show cause notice on negligent record keeping and lack of producing requisite documents.

The company has been asked to produce the required documents before the committee by April 18 by 10: 00 am, otherwise, the next course of action would be initiated as per law, added SDM Derabassi.
