Ludhiana, Oct 25
Ludhiana district has been leading in the state by lifting 23261 Metric Tons (MT) of paddy from the grain markets in the last 24 hours.
Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal provided details, stating that procurement agencies in the district lifted 23261 MT of paddy on Thursday, marking the highest figure recorded by any district in the state. He noted that 46.4% of the paddy had been lifted within the last 72 hours. He directed officials from the food, civil supplies department, and procurement agencies to further expedite the lifting of grain and to assist farmers at every stage of the procurement process.
Additionally, Jorwal mentioned that the procurement agencies have purchased 372669.6 MT of paddy out of 422220.8 MT that arrived in the district. Payments totalling Rs 828.8 crores have already been disbursed to farmers who sold their produce. He emphasized that the district administration is committed to ensuring a smooth and hassle-free procurement season as directed by Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann.
The Deputy Commissioner also urged all officials to maintain this performance throughout the season and to continue supporting farmers during this critical period. He also mentioned that he is personally monitoring the purchasing, lifting, and payment processes, reviewing procurement efforts daily.
