PM’s first decision to release Kisan Nidhi shows commitment towards farmers: Jakhar. PM Narendra Modis commitment and resolve towards welfare of farmers was manifested in his first decision in the third term authorizing the release of the installment of PM Kisan Nidhi which will benefit over 11 crore farmer families in the country, Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar said today. While expressing gratitude, Sunil Jakhar said PM Modi chose farmers issues over and above everything by first sanctioning the release of nearly Rs 20,000 crore to be distributed in this installment among farmer families (Rs 3 lakh crore distributed to farmers till date). Recently, as part of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra across 2.60 lakh gram panchayats in the country, over 90 lakh eligible farmers were added as beneficiaries to the PM Kisan Nidhi scheme. “Several lakhs of farmers in Punjab will benefit from this decision. The money will be transferred in bank accounts of beneficiary farmers which will augment their income”, Sunil Jakhar said. While the Center has yet again manifested its commitment to help farmers, Sunil Jakhar lamented that the Punjab government’s wishy-washy lackadaisical ways come in the way of benefits reaching the farmers. He said about 14 lakh farmers may be deprived of the benefits of the Centers flagship scheme since the state government has not lived up to its assurances of doorstep delivery for the mandatory KYC of farmers accounts,” the state BJP president said. The Bhagwant Mann government, Jakhar said, may try to vent out its frustration on farmers since the constituents have rejected the AAP in the Lok Sabha elections. “The voters, including farmers, have voted for the BJP, which is evident from the fact that the BJP remained the only party in Punjab which increased its vote share nearly three times from 6.6% to nearly 19%. Out of the 13 parliamentary segments, the BJP gained its vote share in 12 segments which underscores its growing footprints,” Sunil Jakhar said.
