Punjab Congress president and Ludhiana MP Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today raised the issue of the sacrilege of the holy Guru Granth Sahib demanding justice that has been delayed for eleven years.
Interestingly, his mike was switched off when he mentioned the name of Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal.
Speaking in the Lok Sabha today, Warring noted that eleven years had passed and the sacrilege issue was not settled. He said, even after Sukhbir Badal, who was then the Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister of Punjab when sacrilege took place in 2015, had confessed to his guilt no action was taken against him.
The PCC president said that the Sikhs have been demanding justice for eleven years over the sacrilege of their holy Guru Granth Sahib, but justice has evaded them and successive governments have not taken any action.
Recalling the tragic incident that took place eleven years ago, he said, two people who were protesting against the sacrilege and demanding justice were killed in the police firing when Sukhbir was the Deputy Chief Minister.
Later, talking to reporters outside the parliament, Warring said he felt sad and disappointed that his mike was switched off when he was merely stating the facts without passing any value judgement against anyone. He said, what he spoke in the parliament today was all matter of record in the public domain and still his mike was switched off.
