Addressing a press conference in Jalandhar under the nationwide ‘Sankalp Se Siddhi’ series, BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh today hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 11 years of governance as a shining example of “public service, nation-building, and transformational development.”

Chugh said, “In 2014, India was the 11th largest economy with a GDP of $1.86 trillion. Today, under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Modi, we stand as the world’s fourth-largest and fastest-growing economy with a GDP of $4.187 trillion.”

He said the Modi Government has fought a decisive battle against poverty, lifting over 25 crore people out of the poverty line. With zero tolerance for corruption, the government adopted the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, which successfully transferred over ₹44 lakh crore directly to beneficiaries, eliminating middlemen.

He noted that over 52.5 crore people have received loans under the PM Mudra Yojana, amounting to over ₹33 lakh crore — 68% of these beneficiaries are women. A fintech revolution was ushered in, with UPI transactions crossing ₹25.14 lakh crore as of May 2025.

An additional 3 crore houses have already been announced. Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, 15 crore households have received tap water, and India achieved 100% sanitation coverage with 12 crore toilets built.

On healthcare, Chugh said Ayushman Bharat, the world’s largest health insurance scheme, has provided free hospital treatment to over 9.3 crore people, including all senior citizens above 70. The e-Sanjeevani platform has delivered telemedicine services to over 35 crore patients. Additionally, 16,251 Jan Aushadhi Kendras are redefining affordable healthcare access across India.

On national security, Chugh referred to Operation Sindoor, Uri, and Balakot air strikes as examples of India’s bold and decisive military response. He noted that defence exports have grown 34 times, from ₹686 crore in 2014 to ₹23,622 crore in 2024–25. The BrahMos missile has become a global symbol of India's defence capability.

Chugh added that the Modi government has not only delivered development but also revived India’s cultural and civilisational heritage. The construction of the grand Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, the Char Dham highway, the PRASAD scheme, and global celebrations of International Yoga Day have put India's spiritual and cultural legacy on the world map. Article 370 was abrogated, achieving the full integration of Jammu & Kashmir. Under Startup India, India has become the third-largest startup ecosystem in the world.

He mentioned that 7.71 lakh km of rural roads were constructed under PM Modi’s tenure. The world’s highest railway bridge — Chenab, the Vande Bharat trains, and the UDAN scheme have drastically improved national connectivity. The agriculture budget increased five-fold, and ₹3.68 lakh crore was transferred to 9.8 crore farmers under PM-Kisan Yojana.

On Punjab, Chugh said, “Punjab is a land of martyrs, and the Modi Government has honoured this legacy through initiatives like the redevelopment of the Jallianwala Bagh Memorial, with four new museum galleries.” An SIT was constituted for the 1984 anti-Sikh riot cases, reopening 300 closed cases and providing relief and jobs to the victims’ families. The 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji was celebrated globally, and Veer Bal Diwas was launched to honour the sacrifices of Sahibzade.

He highlighted that the ₹40,000 crore Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway covering 669 km will not only improve direct connectivity to Harmandir Sahib, Sultanpur Lodhi, Taran Taran, and Vaishno Devi, but also bring economic empowerment to the region.

Chugh shared that 79,635 houses have been sanctioned under PMAY (Gramin) in Punjab, with 40,352 completed, while 1,33,270 houses have been approved under PMAY (Urban), with 97,348 already built. Under Ujjwala Yojana, 13,59,509 gas connections have been provided in Punjab.
