Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora – the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) candidate for the Ludhiana (West) constituency – is not a typical politician. His approach to politics is a departure from tradition, and it’s precisely this uniqueness that’s making him increasingly popular among the masses.

Arora, who became a Rajya Sabha MP nearly three years ago, had never imagined himself contesting elections or asking people for votes. In fact, he often believed he would never take that route. However, following the unfortunate demise of sitting MLA Gurpreet Singh Gogi, the party leadership decided to field Arora as their candidate for the Ludhiana (West) by-election – a decision he accepted without hesitation as a loyal party member.

Arora firmly believes that when the party entrusts someone with responsibility, it becomes their duty to fulfill it with sincerity. During his tenure in the Rajya Sabha, he focused significantly on development, particularly in the areas of healthcare and education, allocating a large portion of his MPLAD funds to these sectors. As a result, over the past three years, Arora has built an image of a “development-oriented” leader.

Now, as he takes on the challenge of contesting a seat in the state assembly, Arora is actively engaging with the people at the grassroots level. His campaign is marked by genuine interaction—he doesn’t just deliver speeches; he invites people to share their thoughts, problems, and grievances publicly. This open-mic style of communication stands in contrast to the usual political rallies, where leaders speak and leave without meaningful engagement.

During his public events, Arora often walks into the crowd, engaging in one-on-one conversations with strangers, placing a hand on their shoulder, or embracing them warmly. This approachable, friendly demeanor makes people feel that he’s one of them—accessible, understanding, and sincere in his efforts to resolve their issues.

Notably, he strives to resolve problems on the spot whenever possible, avoiding empty promises. “I don’t believe in making promises,” Arora says, “I believe in making every possible effort to find real solutions.”

With this down-to-earth and solutions-driven approach, Sanjeev Arora is carving out a distinct identity—one that may well redefine what people expect from their political representatives.
