• Cabinet Minister Pays Tribute at Asaf Wala War Memorial
Punjab Cabinet Minister Aman Arora stated that the Yudh Nashian de Virudh (war against drugs) launched under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is yielding positive results. He was addressing the local residents today after paying tribute at the Shaheedan di Samadhi, Asaf Wala.
On this occasion, Aman Arora emphasized that the memorial, dedicated to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation during the 1971 Indo-Pak war, is a sacred place. He highlighted that the sacrifices made by these great warriors are a source of inspiration for the country. He paid homage to these martyrs, acknowledging their unparalleled sacrifices.
Speaking about the anti-drug campaign, the Minister said that the Punjab Government has initiated a strong movement against drugs, receiving significant public support. He stated that the police have been actively dismantling drug supply networks, and the government has provided law enforcement agencies with the freedom to act professionally. He underlined that public participation is crucial for the success of this campaign, ensuring that Punjab will emerge victorious in this battle against drugs.
Regarding the state's development, Aman Arora mentioned that the Punjab Government has taken a firm resolve to ensure holistic growth across the state. He announced that each legislative constituency has been allocated Rs. 5 crore to address local developmental needs. He also responded to public demand by announcing the establishment of a Sewa Kendra in Asaf Wala.
Earlier, Fazilka MLA Narinder Pal Singh Sawna highlighted the government's special focus on the development of rural and urban areas. He mentioned that sports stadiums are being constructed in villages and that every family will benefit from a Rs. 10 lakh health insurance cover, ensuring welfare across all sections of society.
Upon their arrival at the memorial, Deputy Commissioner Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu welcomed the dignitaries and paid tribute at the memorial site. Other prominent attendees included SSP Varinder Singh Brar, SP Pradeep Singh Sandhu, Chairman of the Martyrs' Memorial Committee Sandeep Gilhotra, committee members Prafull Nagpal and Shashikant, Chairman of the District Planning Board Sunil Sachdeva, Chairman of the Market Committee Paramjit Singh, along with a large number of distinguished guests from the region.
