Ludhiana, June 4, 2026 : Under the guidance of the Civil Surgeon Dr Ramandeep Kaur, Ludhiana, and the supervision of Dr. Ashish Chawla, District Health Officer, Ludhiana, the Food Safety Team conducted an early morning inspection drive at the Sabzi Mandi, Ludhiana, as part of its ongoing efforts to ensure the availability of safe and quality food products to the public.
During the inspection, the team collected two samples of paneer from different food business outlets for detailed laboratory analysis. Upon inspection and considering the suspected quality concerns, the team destroyed approximately 32 kilograms of paneer on the spot to safeguard public health and prevent its distribution in the market.
The collected samples have been sent to the State Food Testing Laboratory for analysis. Further action will be initiated under the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, based on the laboratory reports.
Dr. Ashish Chawla stated that the Health Department remains committed to protecting consumer health and ensuring strict compliance with food safety standards. He further appealed to food business operators to maintain hygiene and quality standards and advised consumers to purchase food items only from reliable sources.
The Food Safety Team will continue conducting regular inspections and sampling drives across the district to ensure the availability of safe and wholesome food products for the public.
