A plethora of activities were organized to mark the celebration of World Earth Day in Green Land Convent School, Dugri. This year the celebration marks its 53rd anniversary with the theme Invest in Our Planetwhich focuses on natural processes, emerging green technologies, and innovative thinking to restore the worlds ecosystems. In its endeavour to instil an ongoing concern for our Mother Earth, Students zealously took part in the activities. Green Knights of classes I to V showed their talent by participating in activities like: Kitchen garden, Speech , Collage making, Making Earth day Crown from Best out of waste and making a Sandwich bag Compost.Students of grade VI to VIII mesmerised all teachers and students with their unique style to present their creativity by building a birdhouse/bird feeder house and homemade solar oven out of recycled material whereas students of classes IX to XII participated in Role of youth to Save Earth as well as plantation drive. The President, Chain of Green Land Schools Mr. Shabad Rudhra also appreciated this event and enlightened the students about the importance of trees as they are the Lungs of the Earth and humans are damaging their own Earth, still we have time to protect our planet by planting numerous trees. He also emphasised not to use plastic bags. Further he highlighted that we should celebrate every day as Earth Day. The Director of the School, Ms. Vijayata Rudhra devoured the students on the occasion. She created awareness among students towards environmental issues and encouraged them to make Eco-Green Club where they can take action to improve their environment. Now, it is high-time for our present and future generation to take responsibility for our actions, otherwise it would be too late to Save Earth. The Principal,Mrs. Geetika Sharma appreciated the efforts of young toddlers and added that we are fortunate to have born on Earth and we should join our hands together to save our mother Earth from the increasing environmental degradation and exhorted everybody to save flora and fauna, soil and water from the unhealthy man made practices growing industrialisation and urbanisation.
