Administration to ensure hassle-free wheat procurement
The district administration has made comprehensive preparations to ensure a seamless wheat procurement season, equipping all 108 grain markets with essential facilities such as cleanliness, potable water supply, fans, and adequate lighting.
Although the wheat has yet to arrive in the markets, officials from the Mandi Board, the Department of Food, Civil Supplies, and procurement agencies are actively deployed to guarantee that farmers face no inconvenience while selling their produce.
Inspectors from the department and procurement agencies have been assigned duties at each purchase center to facilitate the immediate procurement of wheat. To further support farmers, the administration has established 40 temporary sub-yards in addition to the main markets.
Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain stated that approximately 8.29 lakh metric tonnes of wheat are expected to arrive this season, underscoring the administration’s commitment to a smooth and efficient process.
Proper arrangements for lifting the harvest have been made across all purchase centers, with tenders for transport and labour already allotted. "The farmers’ harvest will be lifted from the grain markets promptly, ensuring they face no difficulties during the selling process," he emphasized. To oversee the operations, sub-divisional magistrates and heads of all procurement agencies have been directed to closely supervise the procurement activities.
