Constitution Day also known as ‘Samvidhan Divas’, was celebrated at Green Land Convent School, Civil City with great pomp and show to commemorate the adoption of the constitution of India.
On 26 November 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution of India, which came into effect on 26 January 1950.This day is also celebrated as a tribute to India’s first Law Minister BR Ambedkar, who played a pivotal role in drafting the Indian Constitution.
A special assembly was held in the school campus. As a part of the celebrations, the School planned several innovative activities to highlight and reiterate the values and principles enshrined in the constitution.An important part of the celebrations was the reading of the Preamble and reaffirming our commitment to uphold it. Students and teachers together read the Preamble in the morning assembly.Students also watched related a filmshowing Howdrafting of the Constitutiontook place in the past. Teachers presented a webinar on the contribution of Dr. B.R Ambedkar and on the importance of the Constitution, Fundamental Rights and Duties and National Symbols. Awareness rally was also organised to make the students aware about our Constitution. Students and teachers actively took part in it.
Dr. Rajesh Rudhra, Chairman of the Green Land Seriesemphasised on the need of being aware of rights as well as duties prescribed in the Indian Constitution. He exclaimed that this day marked the dawn of a new era and gave everyone the Constitution which is the framework for political principles, procedure and power of the government.
The School Principal, Ms. Ritu Malhotra urged the students to abide by the Constitution and feel proud to be a citizen of a great country.
