The Buddy Groups of Innocent Hearts Schools( Green Model Town ,Loharan,Cantt.- Jandiala Road ,Noorpur Road and Kapurthala Road) actively observed the Nasha Mukat Bharat Abhiyan by organizing a series of awareness-driven activities in line with the directives of the Deputy Commissioner, Jalandhar. The initiative aimed to instil healthy life choices among students and sensitize them to the dangers of substance abuse through meaningful participation and engagement.
Grade-wise activities were thoughtfully planned to ensure maximum involvement and impact. Students of Grade 6 presented a powerful role play highlighting the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of making informed, responsible choices. An awareness rally was also organized, during which students displayed impactful placards and raised strong anti-drug slogans to spread the message of a drug-free society.Grade 8 students participated in an interactive seminar where they discussed the causes, consequences, and preventive measures related to drug addiction. The session encouraged critical thinking and open dialogue. Students further expressed their concerns and commitment towards staying drug-free through an emotionally resonant poem recitation activity. These activities were designed to sensitize adolescents about the risks and vulnerabilities associated with substance abuse, while also creating a safe space for students to voice their concerns without fear or hesitation.Principals of respective schools, Mr Rajeev Paliwal ( GMT) ,Ms Shallu Sehgal ( Loharan) ,Ms Sonali( CJR) and Mrs Sheetu ( Kapurthala Road) Mrs Minakshi ( Director Noorpur Road)
emphasized that substances like tobacco and alcohol are often considered gateway drugs, as they are typically the first substances accessed by adolescents and may gradually lead to more severe addictions.
The collective efforts of students and educators through the Buddy Group initiative strongly reinforced the message of awareness, responsibility, and commitment towards building a drug-free, healthy, and empowered society.
