National Unity Day observed at Green Land Sr. Sec. Public School , Ludhiana, to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallaba Bhai Patel, the chief architect of modern India. A special assembly was organised for the students of class VI to VIII to show respect and deference towards the eminent leader. Students spoke few words in respect to the intellectual leader, followed by motivational speech by teacher defining and elaborating the true qualities of the great personality. The assembly concluded with a pledge, reiterating the noble thought of the Bismark of India. On the occasion, an essay writing competition was organised for the students of class X on the topic –‘Integrity –A Way of Life’. Slogan writing Competition was also organised for the students in which they made very attractive slogans highlighting the theme of Rashtria Ekta Diwas. The Principal of the school, Mrs. Baldeep Pandher during her address portrayed the real image of ‘The Iron Man of India’ who always favoured truth and justice and believed in accomplishing prime duties and responsibilities as a true citizen of India. She also told the students that it was his will and determination, his excellent negotiation skills & various strategies that was able to unite the 565 self governing princely states into a Unified India. She also told the students that we should try to derive inspiration from the life of such great personality who didn’t live for himself but for others. Results:- In Slogan Writing Competition Kriti of X Pope bagged first prize, Ishita Dhawan of X Keats got second prize & Bhumika of X Chaucer bagged third prize. In Poster Making Competition Vinil Rai from XII Arts bagged first prize, Shreya from XII Sci A got second prize and Tamanna from XII Comm. bagged third prize. In Essay Writing Competition Bridhi Jain ( X Pope) bagged first position , Vibha Arora ( X Pope) got second & Jhilmil ( X Pope ) bagged third position.
